Well we’re finally doin it. We’re finally making a game. Sure it’s a mod for the Source Engine, and sure it’s just a learning experiment, but it’s a game Darn IT! I’ve waited years to do something like this, and we’ve finally started.

We did a bit of research today, seeing what the Source engine has to offer, and also seeing how we can integrate Maya into it. Since Maya is the 3D software we have the most experience with, it would be great to get a working pipeline. This project is definatly going to be 1 part work, and 1 part research.

I also hashed out a rough version of the Backstory for the game, as it’s going to be a single player fps, much like half life. We decided to go with something close to home, and set it inside our College. Write what you know right?

So the rest of this semester is going to be mostly research and asset creation, while next semester is going to be the brain popping adventure of trying to compile a game using nothing but our wits and and the google search engine. Wish us luck!

Negaton Enemies November 5th, 2008

Here are the character designs for our game mod Project Negaton. Due to time constraints I will probably only be able to model two of these characters, since they have to be textured as well, but we shall see. Enjoy!

Siren – Model Complete November 17th, 2008

Here is the first of the Negaton character models, the Siren. Pretty basic model. Kept the poly count low as it’s for a game. Enjoy!

Ghost Model Completed December 7th, 2008

Here is the ghost model for the game mod we are doing. Just another simple, low poly character for use in-game.

Negaton Characters Textured December 7th, 2008

Here are the two negaton characters textured and ready to go. They both have just a simple 1024×1024 color map on them, made in photoshop.

I had time to actually make the final character for our game mod project here. I’d actually say this was the best model so far, and it was made in about one day, texture included. You can see more images in the gallery below.
