Pumpkin Head October 31st, 2010

pumpkinhead

Just a quick one-day model done completely in Zbrush 4. I decided to challenge myself for Halloween to take one day and see what I could do. I think it came out fairly well. I would have liked to have a bit more time to add some more detail and pose it into something more interesting, but the idea is done, and it was some fun practice.

Also, never let a pumpkin jump you from behind. Especially possessive types.

DND content added June 6th, 2010

Things are slowly wrapping up here at the Department of Defense internship and we are getting some of our content approved for public viewing. First up is the soldier model that I put half my life into for 6 months. I was in charge of him pretty near day one, from modeling, texturing, rigging the main soldier and nearly all of the pieces of gear for him.  Second is the Leopard 2A4 model I made for the game engine VBS.  It was kept on the lower poly end for the engine, but I added some high poly treads for demo purposes, as well as a complex rig for animation. More to come, including a brand new demo reel! Enjoy!

Soldier Model
Soldier model created for character animation. Was modeled, and rigged using 3DS Max, and textured using Photoshop. Note: I did not create the C7 Rifle seen in the video.
Leopard2A4
Tank model for VBS game engine. Created in 3DS Max. High poly treads added for demo purposes only.

Tried something a little different here. I decided to make a base mesh from some sample photos in the new anatomy book I got recently. Then I would use that base mesh to make most of my human heads from, to save time. I didn’t know if it would work well enough since The mesh for one object sometimes doesn’t work for another object, but I thought I would give it a shot.

The results were surprising. After having the base mesh done, getting a totally different head done took far less time, and it turned out pretty good. Grant you it really only looked good after a smoothed it and tweaked it a little, so I’ll still need practice just changing the base mesh around, especially for low poly game graphics.

Here’s what I started with:

And this was what I changed it to using photo reference:

Hey everyone. I decided to try one of the Speed Model Challenges that are on www.game-artist.net

This one basicly said “Here’s a propeller, make something that uses it.” So I did, and this is what I came up with. Made in 90 mins.

This is a creature idea I came up with, and will be using it for a modeling project soon.

Yet another old story design. This one I did like, but ended up not using it because the style was a bit cartoony. I kept the clothing design the same though.
